The autumn pearl of Latvian rallying – Rally Latvia
Last round of the 2016 Latvian Rally Championship, Rally Latvia, promises to be exciting and conclude this rally season in style. Rally Latvia is included in not only national, but international motorsports series calendars – drivers will compete for a victory in a total of eight different championships and cups, giving spectators the opportunity to see various classes of cars driving on the autumnal Latvian roads!
Rally Latvia takes place less than a month from now, on October 22 and 23, and will host not only modern rally cars, but also historic cars. Crews competing with modern rally cars will be battling in three events – Latvian Rally Championship, FIA European Rally Trophy, and the Baltic Rally Trophy. Meanwhile, those who are just beginning their rally careers, and are looking to compete in the longer distances in the near future, will be able to race in events based on their current capabilities – rallysprint, rally supersprint and minirally!
Historic Rally Latvia has also served up something special for this year – in addition to a regularity rally, historic cars will also compete for the fastest time on the stages!
Crews battling for the fastest times will be able to do so in two classes – LADA Classic Cup for Lada cars with engines no larger than 1600 cm3, and Open class for cars with engine capacity up to 2000 cm3, where it is allowed to compete with not only Lada, but also Moskvich, FIAT, Polski FIAT and VW, and others.
“End of the rally season is quickly approaching, and, with that in mind, we are planning to give the spectators an exciting event, which will make it possible to enjoy rallying in autumn before having to wait for the beginning of the next season. Like in previous years, Rally Latvia will have many different classes and cars. I would suggest attending not only the special stages, but also the service park, to see that rally really is based on teamwork! Even though we will publish the rally plan separately, I can already tell you that both days of the event will take place also in Jūrmala – Ķemeri (on Saturday) and Kauguri (on Sunday)!
I am proud to announce that Rally Latvia will be attended by the legendary rally driver and Vilnius Transportation Factory (VFTS, originally - Вильнюсская фабрика транспортных средств) engineer Stasys Brundza, who was in charge of building quite a few LADA rally cars at the end of the 20th century!” says Rally Latvia organizer Jānis Krastiņš.
Rally Latvia would like to thank its partner – Jūrmala city council – for their support in organizing the final event of the 2016 Latvian Rally Championship, and would like to thank sponsors Conti STL and DMACK. Thank you to supporters Autobrava, Hydroscand and Prodex. Informative support is provided by TVNET.
More information about the event, and the results of Rally Latvia, is available on the official Latvian Rally Championship website http://autorally.lv/, as well as on social media: Twitter, facebook, and YouTube.
